Sometimes it’s not all about hiking into gorges, climbing mountains and finding waterfalls when you are travelling or on holidays with kids.  Sometimes, the big smoke can offer up some amazing and FUN activities for the whole family. Here are some of our favourite unique family activities in Melbourne.

Have you heard of the Escape Hunt Experience?  If you are looking for something different, challenging & FUN for the whole family, then this is the place to go…it will freak you out, make your brains explode and have the older kids talking about it for many months.

The Escape Hunt Experience is a unique adventure based of the classic “escape the room” online games now popular in many countries around the world.  Originally these were online point and click flash computer games such as Myst and Crimson Room. Players are locked in a simple room with objects and little decoration and feel like being inside a real life puzzle while searching for clues and solving puzzles trying to escape.

Nelson from The Escape Hunt Experience said:

“This idea spread to other places and The Escape Hunt Experience is proud to take inspiration from these great games yet offer something totally unique.  We offer a true “experience” where you play the part of a detective with your family or colleagues trying to solve mystery’s.  As a team you play against the clock in one of our rooms to find the guilty suspect’s identity and thereby find your escape. The adventures last around 60 minutes and afterwards refreshments such as tea, biscuits and water is available”

You can’t miss The Melbourne Star when you enter Melbourne from the north.  It is spectacular and the views from the top are said you be INCREDIBLE.  Grandma took our girls last year and they are still talking about the experience and have begged us to take them so they can show us “how cool” it was. We are going to surprise them in a few weeks, so stay tuned for our full review soon…

What to expect:  “At its peak height of 120 metres – the equivalent of a 40 storey building – the Melbourne Star provides uninterrupted 360-degree panoramic views of Melbourne, Port Phillip Bay and the surrounding area, stretching up to 40 kms.   Our in-cabin audio commentary and “Tales of Melbourne” pre-boarding story display will reveal interesting stories about Melbourne past and present, together with the unique history of Giant Observation Wheels”
